Experience

Example GHG Projects that GHG Climate Team has conducted:

Project Summary: Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Verification of Orange County Landfills
Client: Orange County Waste & Recycling (OCWR)
Location: Santa Ana, CA
Status: On-going
Project Description: Providing 2009 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) verification services to OCWR on two County landfills.  Focus on landfill gas collection units and ancillary electrical generation.

Project Summary:
Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Verification for Food Processor General Combustion
Client: Los Gatos Tomatoes
Location: Central Valley, CA
Status: On-going
Project Description: Providing 2009 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) verification services to JNJ Pharmaceutical Research and Development facility focusing on cogeneration operations.

Project Summary: Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Verification
Client: Johnson and Johnson (JNJ)
Location: La Jolla, CA
Status: On-going
Project Description: Providing 2009 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) verification services to JNJ Pharmaceutical Research and Development facility focusing on cogeneration operations.

Project Summary: Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Electrical Generation and Retail Operations
Client: City of Corona Dept. of Public Works
Location: Corona, CA
Status: On-going
Project Description: Providing 2009 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) plan development and upload assistance along with pre-verification program analysis for Corona Electrical Generation (Clearwater) and Retail Energy Operations.

Project Summary:
Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Electrical Generation and Retail Operations
Client: Redding Electric Utility
Location: City of Redding, CA
Status: Ongoing
Project Description: Conducting a pre-verification analysis of the existing electrical and retail programs in preparation for verification activities.  Reviewed existing data management programs and Identified best management practices and reviewed existing

Project Summary: Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from a Proposed Aggregate Quarry
Client: Madera Quarry, Madera, CA
Location: Fresno County
Status: Completed November 2009.
Project Description: Analyze emissions of greenhouse gases associated with the mining, extraction, and processing at a hard rock mine.  The project included a hot mix asphalt plant and a concrete batch plant.  The analysis focused on the GHG emissions from fuel combustion, mining equipment and on-road truck travel.  GHG emission offsets were calculated from a forest preserve set aside to offset emissions from the project.  Offset calculations involved using the USDA Forest Service model for computing annual GHG absorption from oak trees.

Project Summary: Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Heated Crude Oil Pipeline
Client: Resource Design and Technology, Inc., El Dorado Hills, CA
Project Manager: Ray Kapahi
Location: Monterey and Fresno Counties
Status: Project Completed September 2008.
Project Description: Analyze emissions of greenhouse gases associated with the construction and operation of a heated crude oil pipeline from San Ardo (Monterey County) to Coalinga (Fresno County).  The analysis focused on GHG emissions from the construction equipment, vehicle travel and crude oil heaters.  The analysis compared GHG emissions from the proposed pipeline versus emissions associated with transporting the crude oil by truck.

Status: Current Project
Project Summary: Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sustainability Analysis
Client: Kellogg Garden Products, Carson, California
Project Manager: Cynthia Vant Hul
Location(s): Lockeford, Ontario and Carson, California
Project Description: Kellogg Garden Products is a major producer of organic potting soils and soil amendments.  GHG Climate Team LLC was retained to determine the Company’s overall carbon footprint.  The scope of our services includes: analysis of fuel used in the production and transportation of finished products; analysis of avoided greenhouse has emissions from use of organic instead of chemical fertilizers; an Assessment of overall Corporate recycling, re-use and conservation efforts; and calculation of key performance indicators, such as GHG emissions per unit finished product.

Project Summary: Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Stationary Combustion
Client: Searles Valley Minerals, Trona, California
Status: Current Project
Location: Trona (San Bernardino County), California
Project Description: Searles Valley Minerals is a major International producer of Soda Ash, a raw material for producing glass.  GHG Climate Team is analyzing current fuel consumption, results of recent emission testing, and fuel composition to refine current greenhouse gas emissions.  We are also providing in-house consulting services to ensure that record keeping and data management systems meet the California Mandatory Reporting Regulations.  The scope of services included: review of fuel consumption data and its correlation to steam production; calculation of a site-specific emission factors to refine GHG emissions per unit fuel use; quantification of in-house GHG sequestration based on a proprietary chemical stabilization process; and update of the 2008 GHG report submitted to the California Air resources Board

Project Summary: Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Verification Services
Client: Knauf Fiberglass Gmb, Shasta Lake, California
Project Manager: Ray Kapahi
Location: Shasta Lake, California
Status: Current Project
Project Description: Knauf Fiberglas manufactures home insulation at their facility and manufacturing plant at the City of Shasta Lake, California.  GHG team has been retained to review GHG emission calculations prepared by in-house staff and update reports previously submitted to the California Air resources Board (CARB).  The scope of services included: analysis of fuel consumption at each of the glass melting furnaces; review of natural gas consumption data as recorded by individual fuel meters; and refine GHG emissions based on site-specific natural gas heating value.   The results of our analysis indicated that this facility was exempt from CARB’s Mandatory GHG reporting requirements.
